My weekends have been outdoing themselves since I’ve been here. I’m not complaining =) This past weekend was a long weekend and we went to Muuido Island.
It’s not to far away and a really fun a cheep way to spend the weekend.
We took the metro to the Airport and then a local bus to the ferry.
Once at the port we paid a whopping 3,000 won (under 3$) to take the ferry to the island. Once on the Island we took yet another bus to get to the other side of the island where the beach where we camped is.
The Island is beautiful. Looks like the island in Lost if you ask me. It’s all mountains and the tide goes out really far during the day- maybe 1km or so. So cool. We spent a lot of time walking in the mud flats looking at critters.
Hiking is a big deal on the island. We took a trail that went along the edge of the island that gave us continuous beautiful views of the ocean.
You could also go horse back riding or ride ATVS on the beach. NICE.
We rented a few of these beach huts. Pretty plain- enough room for 3 or 4 people to lay on the floor- but about that floor- it’s heated. and PRAISE JESUS for that. It’s for sure fall here, and was in the 40’s at night, but the hot floor kept us nice and warm. Every night we feel asleep to the sounds of the ocean and every morning we would wake up to a view of the waves.
And we ate some crazy stuff. One of my favorites here is Korean BBQ. So good. You cook the meet on your table and then put small pieces in lettuce leaves with rice and veggies- you fold it all up and eat- so good. We also had FRESH shrimp. Like the were alive in the pot as they brought them to the table and put them on the fire. I was amazed.
The sun set was on our beach too- so perfect.
The whole group
On the last night we sang Kraokee at this camp get together. Four of us Americans got up and sang Don’t Stop Believin- and we won 3rd place! We have free ATV rides for our next trip to the island!
Life is good here =)
